Frequently Asked Questions

We have created an FAQ below in hopes of answering some of the more general questions. Below, you will also find printable files containing Dance Mania's policies, required attire, and registration form. If you have any further questions, you can email us at dance-mania@hotmail.com.

How long is your dance season?
Dance Mania's dance season runs from September through May. All classes end just before the recital, which is usually the second weekend in June. After that, we hold summer classes.

When does your fall registration end?
Our registration is always open. Children are able to join classes anytime during the year. However, if they plan on participating in the recital, then they will need to join the specific classes in January or February.

Is it mandatory to participate in the recital?
The recital is always optional. However, the purpose of the recital is to showcase the abilities and skills that your child has learned throughout the dance season. We strive to make the recital a fun and enjoyable experience.

What costs are associated with the recital?
The only costs associated with the recital are the cost of the costumes, any shoes that may be needed, and the purchasing of tickets to attend the show. Recital costumes usually range from $75-$80 per costume.

Can my child try a class to see if she enjoys it before signing up?
Yes. We offer each new student the option to try "one" class for free.

Is tuition the same even though there are only 3 weeks in the month?
Yes. The tuition will be the same no matter if their are 3, 4, or 5 weeks in the month. In the end, the amount of classes your child will have balances out.

My child plays a sport in the spring, can she take classes up until the spring?
Yes. Your child can take classes for any period of time. We only ask that we know ahead of time if they will be participating in the recital since we will need to order costumes.

Do you offer private lessons?
Yes, we do offer private lessons. However, the times available for private lessons are dependent on the availability of the teachers. Also, private lessons are on a first come first serve basis. More information regarding privates can be found in the school policies.

What if my child misses a class?
Your child will be able to make up any classes they miss in another class. See your teacher for recommended make-up times. There are no make-up classes if the studio is closed for holidays and spring/winter recesses.

How many children are in the classes?
In order to maximize the amount of learning for your children, we keep our class sizes small. For our younger dancers (ages 4-7), there are usually no more than 8-10 children in the class. For our older dancers (ages 8 & up), we keep the size between 10-15 children.

Can I switch classes midway through the year?
Yes. If your child finds that they are not enjoying the class, or would like to try a different class, they are more than welcome to switch. We only ask that you let us know in advance which class your child will be attending when it comes time to order recital costumes as each class will have a different costume.

What are the requirements for joining the competition team?
In order to participate in the Dance Mania competition team, your child will need to attend one of our Audition Workshops. Provided the audition goes well, Miss Amy will then discuss the classes your child will need to attend to remain on the competition team. The number of classes will depend on the number of dances your child will be taking part in. Also, each competition team member is required to attend at least 4 regional competitions, and one national competition.
